Random Name Picker Wheel

Paste your names, spin the wheel and let chance decide. Remove each winner with one click so everyone gets a fair turn.

A fair way to pick a random name in seconds

The Random Name Picker Wheel turns any list of names into a colorful spinning wheel. Type or paste the names on the right, press Spin, and the pointer lands on one person at random. It is the quickest way to choose who goes first, who answers the next question, who wins a small prize or whose turn it is to make coffee — without anyone arguing that the choice was rigged.

Every spin uses your browser’s built-in cryptographic random number generator, the same kind of randomness used for security keys. The wheel decides the winner first and then animates to it, so the result is never affected by how fast you click or how the wheel happens to be rotated.

How to use the name picker wheel

  1. Add names. Type one name per line, or copy a column from Excel, Google Sheets or a class register and paste it in.
  2. Spin. Click the big button, tap the wheel itself, or press Ctrl + Enter on a keyboard.
  3. See the winner. A pop-up shows the chosen name with a little confetti celebration.
  4. Remove or keep. Tap Remove to take the winner off the wheel, or switch on automatic removal in Options so nobody is picked twice.
  5. Check results. The Results tab keeps a numbered history of every spin you can copy and share.

Features that make it easy

  • Unlimited names — from 2 to several hundred entries; labels shrink to fit.
  • Shuffle, sort and clear buttons to tidy your list in one tap.
  • Remove the winner manually or automatically for no-repeat draws.
  • Adjustable spin time from a quick 2 seconds to a dramatic 15.
  • Share link that rebuilds your exact wheel for anyone you send it to.
  • Full-screen mode for projectors, smart boards and live streams.
  • Saved automatically in your browser, so your list is still there next time.

Popular ways to use a name wheel

Teachers use it to call on students fairly and to keep the whole class alert. Managers pick who presents first at stand-up or who takes the meeting notes. Streamers and creators spin it live to choose a viewer, a challenge or a giveaway winner. At home it settles who picks the movie, who walks the dog and who gets the last slice.

Need a fairer classroom rotation? The Random Student Picker remembers who has already been picked. Running a contest with many entries? Try the Giveaway Winner Picker to draw several winners and backups at once.

Tips for a fair draw

Entering a name twice gives that person two chances, which is handy for weighted draws such as rewarding extra effort. If you want strictly equal odds, use Sort to spot duplicates quickly. For public giveaways, record your screen while spinning so participants can see the draw happened live.

Random Name Picker Wheel — FAQ

Is the random name picker really random?

Yes. The winner is chosen with crypto.getRandomValues(), the browser’s cryptographically secure random generator, before the wheel animates. Every name on the wheel has exactly the same chance.

How many names can I add?

There is no hard limit. The wheel comfortably shows a few hundred names; with very long lists the labels get smaller but every entry still has an equal chance.

Can I remove a name after it is picked?

Yes. Click “Remove” in the result pop-up, or open Options and turn on automatic removal so each winner leaves the wheel straight away.

Are my names saved or uploaded anywhere?

Your list is stored only in your own browser so it is there when you return. Nothing is sent to our server, and no account is needed.
