Charades Word Spinner

Spin for a random word to act out, then start the built-in timer. Words are removed after use so every round is fresh.

Instant charades words — no paper slips needed

Charades is a perfect game for every age, but writing words on slips of paper takes forever. The Charades Word Spinner gives the actor a random word in one spin and includes a countdown timer, so you can start playing straight away. It is pre-loaded with 36 easy-to-act words — animals, jobs, sports and everyday actions.

How to play charades with the spinner

  1. Split into two teams (the Team Generator can do this for you).
  2. The actor spins the wheel without the team looking.
  3. Press Start timer in the pop-up — 60 seconds is standard.
  4. Act out the word with no talking, sounds or pointing at objects.
  5. Score a point if the team guesses before time runs out. Used words are removed.

Common charades signals

  • Number of words: hold up that many fingers.
  • Which word: hold up fingers again for the word you are acting.
  • Sounds like: cup your hand behind your ear.
  • Movie / book / song: crank an old camera / open your hands like a book / sing.
  • Close! wave your hands encouragingly.

Make your own word list

Swap in movie titles for film night, vocabulary for a language lesson, holiday themes for Christmas parties or Bible characters for youth group. Enter one word or phrase per line; the list saves in your browser. Choose 30, 60, 90 or 120 seconds on the timer to make rounds easier or harder.
